Thanks for visiting www.blackarro.com. Currently, BlackArro Productions is a one-man cartoon production studio, covering every corner of film production, from pre-production to completion, including original music, voice acting, script writing, character design, illustrations, sound effects, editing, producing, directing and so on. Taking on all aspects of making a film is a great challenge, but allows for unlimited creative freedom, though there's always room for improvement in certain areas, as is the case with most talents.
The "Low Budget Gore Series" consists of three films including "City of Rott", "Dead Fury" and "Shock Invasion (Anti-Human)". These cartoons are primarily focused on gory tales of horror with a lighter approach to content. The animation style is an archaic but intentional form of stop-frame animation, whereby the motions are stiff and choppy, but the gore effects fluid and animated, similar to South Park's style. "Shock Invasion" is the final film in the "Low Budget Gore Series", but there are still plans for a "City of Rott" sequel that will use a new form of animation well ahead of the style of the first.
Much time has been taken to ensure the fourth BlackArro Productions film treads new ground in terms of quality, animation, storytelling, dialog and action. New animation software will be utilized, with drastic improvements in the writing department after taking a deep look into the shortcomings of the first three films. More news to follow.
ARCHIVED DESCRIPTION: 2009
BlackArro Productions started in 2005, in which year "City of Rott" was started and completed. The unrated, animated horror film was the first of its kind, filling the empty sub-genre of animated feature-length zombie films. The cartoon received praise from critics and fans alike, who didn't mind watching a crazy, old guy named Fred beat the crap out of zombies for no good reason but survival and a pair of shoes. In 2006, production on the second FSudol film, "Dead Fury" began, and was completed in early 2007, with much more focus placed on developing a stronger storyline, while providing gory thrills.
Regarding the cartoon horror genre, BlackArro's first goal is to deliver the gore like never before. Cartoons can be frightening in some ways, but generally, the goal is to entertain audiences with amusing characters, thought provoking storylines and tons of gore. Horror in the sense that horrific events take place in the film, but not so much for the sake of scares, considering the cartoon illustration style.
Speaking of the visual style, BlackArro productions uses a method of animation called "Stop-Frame", much like the kind used for the incredibly successful "South Park" series and movie. Look for the name "Frank Sudol" in the end credits of "South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut", released in 1999. Through that invaluable experience, much was learned about the film making process, and the show's success and entertaining characters continue to provide inspiration.
FSudol's "Stop-Frame" animation is created by first illustrating by hand, then scanning the pieces into PhotoShop, after which the animation begins by moving and adjusting each linked piece, one frame at a time. It's a simple form of animation, but it serves the purpose of Frank's 'moving illustration' style, which allows for plenty of intricate details not found in traditional cel animation.
Future films are being planned, so be sure to stay tuned at BlackArro.com for the latest news when it surfaces. Frank would like to say, "Thanks to the fans!" Look for more details at myspace.com/fsudol.
In 2009, Frank is completing work on his third cartoon film (which began in 2007) in the first set of three "cut out" style films. With some much needed studies in the art of screenwriting, the fourth FSudol film will be presented in traditional animation, setting a new standard unseen before from BlackArro Productions. The project will take possibly two years or so, but is an exciting new step for the small one-man animation studio.
